Though short, Mardi Himal trekking takes you through the beautiful nature with scenic beauty all along the way. Mardi Base Camp trek offers you all these amazing things, in just 9 days short period of time.

You will be starting the trekking in Annapurna region Nepal, from the capital and on the next day to the beautiful city of lakes – Pokhara. We will explore the city a bit, then head to Kande to Pothana to Forest Camp. From there, the trail leads to Low Camp to Badaldanda to High Camp. On the next day, we will reach the Mardi Base Camp from where we will enjoy the amazing and startling view of the region, in awe. Tracing our steps back, we will get to Low Camp and from there to Sidhing. And, finally head back to Pokhara then, Kathmandu.

With this amazing short Annapurna region trek, we will have enjoyed the amazing view of the mountains, Mardi Himal (5587m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna south (7219m), Machapuchhre (6993m) and others. Not only mountains, this trek offers other beautiful places, that we traverse through along the way. Best Time to Trek

The best time to trek the Mardi Himal Base Camp is from March to May and the post monsoon season (September to November).It is not advised to trek during the monsoon season (July to August) and also during the winter season ( late December to early February).

Mardi Himal detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arriving at Kathmandu

    On the first day of our trekking in Annapurna region Nepal, you will be arriving at the beautiful capital city – Kathmandu. Our representatives from Mountains Routes will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel. They will explain the trekking schedule and route. You can rest for a while then, head out to explore the city of temples.

  • Day 2 : Kathmandu to Pokhara

    On the second day of our Annapurna region trek, we will be travelling from Kathmandu to Pokhara. You can do this either through roadways or via flight. Upon reaching Pokhara, we will explore the beautiful city of lakes. There are many places that will amaze us, but having only limited time, we will only visit selected few. At night, we can enjoy the beautiful night at Lakeside, Pokhara.

  • Day 3 : Pokhara to Kande to Forest Camp (2520 m) Trip Duration: 1 hour drive + 7 hours

    We will start the day with an early drive from Pokhara to Kande. We will have some breakfast at Kande and then head out to Australian Base Camp. As this is a bit stretchy day, we need to keep up our pace to reach Forest Camp at the end of the day. From Kande, it will take us about 1 & ½ hours to reach Australian Base Camp.

    Just ahead, lies the beautiful Pothana. We will be having lunch at Pothana. And, then start our hike again. The trail then traverses through the beautiful pass of Deurali. The trail between Pothana and Deurali is relatively new thus, does not have any tea houses or lodges along the way. We advise you to carry snacks and water by yourself. After walking for around 4 hours from Deurali, we will reach Forest Camp. We will crash here, for tonight.

  • Day 4 : Forest Camp to Low Camp (2970 m) to High Camp (3540 m) Trip Duration: 3 hours + 4 hours

    With an early breakfast, we need to get going as this too, is going to be a long hike day. We will start from Forest Camp and head out to Low Camp which will take us about 3 hours. The hike consists of walking through lust forest with beautiful Rhododendrons. After having lunch at low camp, we will again start walking, towards High camp. The trek from low camp to high camp consists of passing through Badaldanda, which is a very amazing place.

    Badaldanda lies amongst the clouds and offers an amazing view of both, Mardi mountain and the beautiful landscapes, downwards. After walking along the top ridge of Badaldanda for some time, we will reach High camp where we will stay the night.

  • Day 5 : High Camp to Mardi Base Camp back (4500 m) back to High Camp Trip Duration: 7-8 hours

    On the fifth day of our Annapurna region trek, we will finally be reaching our, long awaited destination – Mardi Base Camp. With an early breakfast, we will head out from High camp to reach Mardi Base Camp (MBC). It will take us about 4 hours to reach to the Mardi Base Camp. The view is amazing all along the way, but the view from top is something extra ordinary.
    Tall mountains including, Mardi Himal (5587m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna south (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Baraha Shikhar (Mt. Fang) (7647m), Tent Peak (5695m), Singhachuli (6501m), Machapuchhre (6993m) and others can be seen and enjoyed with an awe-inspiring view from the top of the view point. After enjoying the view from the top, we will then head back down to High camp. Upon, reaching High Camp, we will stay the second night there.

  • Day 6 : High Camp to Sidhing Village (1700 m) Trip Duration: 6-7 hours

    On the 6th day of trekking in Annapurna region Nepal, we will be heading from High Camp to Sidhing which will take us about 6-7 hours. The different route we take, lets us experience something new even till the end. Upon reaching Sidhing, we will spend the night there.

  • Day 7 : Sidhing to Pokhara Trip Duration: 4 hours

    Sidhing to Pokhara is a 4 hours jeep drive. We will take an early ride to Pokhara, after having breakfast. Upon reaching Pokhara, we will explore the remaining places at Pokhara and do some shopping. At night, we can enjoy the beautiful Lakeside.

  • Day 8 : Pokhara to Kathmandu Trip Duration: 6-7 hours

    On the 8th day of our Annapurna region trekking, we will be heading back to Kathmandu. We will leave early so that, we can visit some places of Kathmandu, upon reaching there. You can do some shopping in Kathmandu and also enjoy the beautiful night life of Thamel. A good night’s sleep is now all that is left for the day.

  • Day 9 : Departure

    Day 9 marks the end of our Annapurna region trekking, and also your stay in Nepal. We will have representatives from Mountain Routes pick you up from your hotel and drop you at the airport. We will share goodbyes and part our ways. You will then board the plane, leaving Nepal with the best memories and an amazing experience of the Mardi Base Camp trek.


  • What type of facility can be expected while trekking in Mardi route?

    If you are looking for the very nice facility during the trail then this Mardi Himal trek might not be your choice since this trek is used as off the beaten trek. The facility is basic if you compare with other trails in the Annapurna region and once you go in higher altitude you don’t have wifi, hot shower and electricity.

    Rooms are simple with wooden bed and toilet is outside and there is a very few private rooms and most of the rooms are shared one.

  • Is it possible to do Mardi trek in other months than peak trekking season?

    Of course, it is possible to do this trek in other months than the best trekking season and it has its own benefits and disadvantage of trekking in season and off-season. In season, trekking routes get crowded and rooms are limited so you need to be prepared for shared room and book in advance. In the off-season, you don’t have to worry about not getting people and weather can be unlucky. In winter at the room, since there will be fewer people trekking. Sometimes the high altitude accommodation might be closed for off-season due to the weather conditions.

  • Do I need the high altitude travel insurance of this Mardi Himal Trek?

    Mardi Himal trek is considered as a high altitude trek and the maximum altitude of this trek is 4500 m/14764 ft at Mardi base camp. We highly recommend you to get the Insurance for this trek. Please double-check with your insurance company if it covers the high altitude treks or not.

  • What if I couldn’t walk for 6-7 hrs daily during the trek?

    If you are trekking alone and get sick, the guide will wait for you to get recovered for the next day. But if you are in a group, the guide cannot wait for you so he/she will arrange/hire a porter for you but you need to pay extra.

    In case of altitude sickness, our guide will explain you in brief what should be done at that moment and if in case of the emergency then we can arrange the rescue for the evacuation on your account.

  • Is it possible to combine Annapurna Base Camp trek with Mardi Himal trek?

    Yes, it is possible to combine the Annapurna Base Camp and Poonhill with Mardi Himal trek. If you want to combine only Poonhill trek and Mardi Himal trek then it takes 8 days from Pokhara to Pokhara and if you want to combine all these three trek Poonhill, Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal trek then it takes 14 days from Pokhara to Pokhara.

  • What are the ages of trekkers in fixed departure trip?

    Most of our trekkers are from 18 to 35 years, but there is no age limitation until they are fit and active to do multi-days trekking in the Himalayas.

  • How safe is the Mardi trekking route?

    Mardi Trekking route is considered safe but there has been some incident with solo trekkers disappearing while trekking alone and these incidents are quite in low number but need to be considered.

    We also arrange a female guide for solo trekkers to avoid any potential incidents.
