A small, developing country with natural beauty and long back history is what makes Nepal popular. Known for the world’s highest peak – Mt. Everest and birthplace of Buddha; Nepal has its own set of cultures.

Nepal is also a popular Hindu travel destination. A country, which kicked off Monarchy just a decade back, was previously known by the name of the Hindu Kingdom. Although secular, Nepal has its Hindu flavor within it with the majority of the Hindu population. It has been a popular religious destination for Hindu and Buddhist too.

In this tour, we visit popular religious places of Nepal like Pashupatinath, Guheswori, Budalnilkantha, Chandragiri, Muktinath, Janaki Temple, Manakamana, etc. They are located in various places of Nepal and hence Mountain Routes has planned for this religious trip to Nepal systematically.

Apart from holy places visit, we also explore the beauty of Kathmandu, Janakpur and Pokhara. Our guide will let you know the history and religious beliefs accordingly to every place around there. We observe the culture from different places here and get to taste foods from different regions around. We explore lakes, and rivers during the trip. Pashupatinath’s Aarati will be something that will be ascertained inner peace here.

Itineraries

  • Day 1 : Arrival at Kathmandu

    Once you drop down to Tribhuwan International Airport, our representative from Mountain Routess will be there to receive you. You will be taken to star hotel in Kathmandu, where you might want to take a nap to overcome your jet lag and tiredness. After you get fresh, you will be explained briefly about your religious tour.

    You can do the necessary shopping or visit around Thamel market in the evening. You should get prepared with your luggage packed so that we can begin the trip from the very next day.


  • Day 2 : Visit religious places around Kathmandu

    Early morning, we head towards Pashupatinath, the holy place of Hindu. Pashupatinath is located in the bank of the Bagmati river, and also is enlisted under UNESCO World Heritage Site. After making worship, we also observe the Bagmati river.

    There is Guheswori temple 1 km away from Pashupatinath temple, which is believed to be Shakti Chair of Pashupatinath. We make our visit there. We might want to visit Boudhanath, the holy place of Buddhists which is just within walking distance from there. Having our lunch, we then head towards Patan Durbar Square and visit Krishna Temple.


  • Day 3 : Visit to Dakshinkali, Buddhalinikantha, Maitidevi and Banglamukhi

    We drive for 22 km in the morning and visit Dakshinkali, a religious site for Kali. It is located at Pharping village, and popularly known for animal sacrifices. We return and make a visit to Buddalinilkantha located at Kathmandu.

    We then head towards Banglamukhi and visit there. There are other temples like Sankata, Maitidevi that we can visit. We don’t make more visits to increase our tiredness, as we begin traveling outside Kathmandu from the next day.


  • Day 4 : Visit Janaki Temple

    Early morning, having breakfast we head towards Janakpur through BP Highway. We head towards Dhulikhel, come across Sindhuligadi and gradually get down to Bardibas.

    After around six hours of drive we finally reach Janakpur, Terai belt of Nepal. Getting fresh at our hotel, we then start visiting the holy places of Janakpur.

    Janaki Temple is located in the Mithila region and is dedicated to Goddess Sita. According to religion, Sita chose Ram to marry her, and their marriage was conducted at the place nearby, which still exists – Bibaha Mandap. Further, we travel around the city visiting the next holy place – Ram Mandir.

    Janakpur was visited by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his holy trip to Nepal. Overnight at Janakpur.


  • Day 5 : Travel to Pokhara

    We wake up early and make a fresh visit to Janaki Temple again. Having our breakfast, we get set for the next 7 to 8 hours of the drive towards Pokhara. On the way we visit the Gadhimai temple, a popular place for animal sacrifice in Hindu society.

    It is okay to make a short visit to Chitwan, and explore wildlife there. We come across Naraynghat, Muglin and finally reach Pokhara. As we won’t have much time this day, we take rest in the hotel.


  • Day 6 : Visit holy places around in Pokhara

    Early morning, we visit the Barahi temple, located in between Phewa Lake. We reach there after around fifteen minutes of boating. Having breakfast, we then head towards Bindabasini Temple. We then visit Davis Fall, a natural waterfall and spend some time there.

    Right in front of Davis Fall, there is Gupteswar Cave. We walk downwards through slippery stairs till the end and worship Shiva’s statue there. It is okay if we wish to visit Peace Stupa – the holy place of Buddhists. Overnight at Pokhara’s lodge.


  • Day 7 : Travel to Jomsom

    Early morning, we take our ride towards Jomsom. We stop at Tatopani, for natural spring bath and then continue our ride. Our guide from Mountain Routes will keep briefing about the geographical locations, and we reach Jomsom by evening. Overnight at Jomsom.


  • Day 8 : Visit Muktinath

    If you love trekking, we can trek for a few hours and reach up to Muktinath. Muktinath is a holy place for both Hindu and Buddhist. Located at an altitude of 3800 meters, it is considered sacred by the Vaishnava sect. It is regarded as Shakti Peetha for yatra and there are 108 natural taps where you can take a bath. Muktinath was visited by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well during his holy trip to Nepal.

    We return to Jomsom. Jomsom is a different land, and an amazing place surrounded by mountains. If you happen to be around during the season of Apple – you get blessed with natural apple’s juicy tastes around. Overnight at Jomsom.


  • Day 9 : Drive to Pokhara

    We ride back towards Pokhara following the same route we came through. If we wish, it is okay to take a natural bath in Tato Pani again. Overnight at Pokhara.


  • Day 10 : Drive to Kathmandu and visit Manakamana

    Having our breakfast, we head towards Kathmandu. After 100 km, we reach Kuringtar, from where we take a cable car ride to Manakamana Temple. Located in the Gorkha district of Nepal, it is a sacred place of Bhagwati, the incarnation of Parvati. The word Mana means heart and Kamana means wish – so this temple is believed to be a wish-fulfilling temple. There is a tradition of animal sacrificing animals in the temple – be that pigeons or goats.

    We take the next few hours of ride and then reach Kathmandu. Overnight at Kathmandu’s lodge.


  • Day 11 : Rest day, exploring day at Kathmandu

    There are other places around – Sankata, Swyambhunath, Bhadrakali, Maitidevi if we want to visit. Or, we can go to Bhaktapur Durbar Square and relax there.


  • Day 12 : Visit Chandragiri and observe Pashupatinath’s Aarati

    This day, we drive up to Nagdhunga, and then take the cable car and visit Chandragiri. Located at the top, we spend some time there and return to Kathmandu. During the evening, we head towards Pashupatinath, to observe Aarati there.

    Evening Aarati of Pashpatiath is regarded to be inherited from Venarasi. Here, people come to observe the next reality of life. In the bank, there will be dead bodies and their family doing their rituals. Overnight at Kathmandu.


  • Day 13 : Departure

    We schedule our departure this day. Our team members from Mountain Routes will be there to bid farewell from Kathmandu. We leave Nepal gathering all the memories and blessings.
