Tamang Heritage trek is one of the most amazing and beautiful Langtang valley trek. In just about 13 days of time, we will be trekking through varied landscapes and the amazing views of the mountains will accompany us, throughout. Beautiful Langtang range and Ganesh Himal will make us make us fall in love with nature, even more. Also the people of the region, and their hospitality will make us feel more welcome into the nature’s lap.

On the very first day of our Langtang valley trek, you will be arriving at the capital city of Nepal – Kathmandu. Spending the first day roaming around the city, we will explore some of the beautiful places. Next day, we will be travelling to Syafru Besi via roadways, which will take us about 8-9 hours of time. It is only on the third day of our journey, we actually begin trekking. The trekking starts from Syafru Besi and ends at Gatlang. From Gatlang, we trek to Tatopani on the next day, where we can enjoy the natural hot spring. Tatopani to Thuman, to Briddim, we will come across the largest Mani in Nepal. Mani wall is a stone wall, with Buddhist prayers written over them. From Briddim, we will then trek to Lama Hotel, and finally to Langtang village. We will then trek to Kyanjin Gompa, which holds a very high religious significance to the Buddhist people. After spending a night in Kyanjin Gompa, we will trek to Lama hotel, and then back to Syafru Besi; the starting point of our trek. Syafru Besi to Kathmandu is 8 hours bus ride.

At the end of this 13 days long Tamang Heritage trek, we will enjoy the nature in its purest form. Trekking on the lap of the Himalayas, we will cross many bridges, temples, and Tamang villages. We will also traverse through beautiful forests. Not only is the nature beautiful in the Langtang region, but also the people there are amazing. In essence, we will be enjoying a trek, that takes us through the lap of the Himalayas, and leave us with beautiful memories and amazing experience.   • Day 1 : Arriving at Kathmandu (1,400m)

    On the very first day of our Tamang Heritage trail trek, you will be reaching the capital city of Nepal – Kathmandu. Our representatives from Mountain Routes will pick you up at the airport. They will be answering any queries relating to the trek, and also be explaining our trekking schedules and routes. They will take you to your hotel rooms, where you can freshen up. After that, you can go out and explore the beautiful city of Kathmandu. Returning back to your hotel, you will have a good night’s sleep and get ready for the next day.

  • Day 2 : Kathmandu to Syafru Besi (1,550m) Trip Duration: 09-10 hrs

    Heading out with an early breakfast, our 2nd day of the Tamang Heritage trek consists of travelling from Kathmandu to Syafru Besi. It will take us about 8-9 hours of time to reach Syafru Besi via roadways. The road is a winding one, through frequent switchbacks. But, the beautiful scenes, along the way will make our travel worthwhile. We can also get a good view of the Manaslu, Ganesh and Annapurna Himal, on our way. After travelling for the whole day, we will reach Syafru Besi in the evening. Upon reaching Syafru Besi, we will check into our lodges and then spend the night there.

  • Day 3 : Syafru Besi to Gatlang (2,200m) Trip Duration: 05-06 hrs

    On the third day of our Tamang Heritage trail trek, we will actually start trekking. We will do that from Syafru Besi, and reach Gatlang after 5 hours of trekking. Shortly after starting our trek, we will reach a view point. From there, amazing panoramic views of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung range, can be admired. After enjoying the view from the viewpoint, we will climb down to reach the Goljung village. We will have lunch at Golijung and continue our trek further from there. We will pass through many small Tamang villages along the way before reaching Gatlang. Gatlang is a Tamang village situated on the hillside. Overnight at Gatlang

  • Day 4 : Gatlang to Tatopani (2,600m) Trip Duration: 06-07 hrs

    On the 4th day of our Tamang Heritage trek, we begin our trek to Tatopani. The trail is descending at first, taking us to the beautiful Thangbuche. Thangbuche provides with a stunning view of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang range. Also, the next interesting thing we will be passing along the way is the Chilime Hydropower dam. From there, it is an ascending climb to Tatopani. Upon reaching Tatopani, we will see around a bit and also may enjoy the natural hot spring there. With a fresh and relaxed body, we will then spend the night, there.

  • Day 5 : Tatopani to Thuman (2,400m) via Nagthali Trip Duration: 05-06 hrs

    Day 5 of our Tamang Heritage trail trek, consists of trekking from Tatopani to Thuman, which will take us about 6 hours of time. A long walk is ahead of us, so we will start early today, with an early breakfast. The trail is mostly ascending, with ups and downs, at some places. After starting our trek, we will reach Nagthali village which is a popular meditation center. From there, we will cross the Nagthali peak at an altitude of 3165 meters. The view from the peak is amazing, as the magnificent Ganesh, Langtang range and Sanjen ranges stand tall in front of us. From Nagthali, we will descend down to Thumen. Thumen is also a Tibetan culture influenced village Tamang village, just as most of the villages in the region. Upon reaching Thuman, we will have our meals and rest for the night there.

  • Day 6 : Thuman to Briddim (2,345) Trip Duration: 05-06 hrs

    Today, on the 6th day of our Tamang Heritage trek, we will be trekking from Thuman to Briddim, which will take us about 6 hours. As both Thuman and Briddim, are at almost same altitude, the trail will follow ups and downs throughout. After beginning our trek, we will reach Timure, after some hours of walking. At Timure, we will be having lunch. From Timure, it is only a few hours trek, to Briddim.

    Briddim is a Tibetan culture influenced village, where we can enjoy homestay and Tamang culture. Lying on the lap of Langtang Himal, Briddim constitutes of about 50 houses. The habitants of the village are descendants of the Tibetan immigrants, and so, its culture closely represents the Tibetan Buddhist culture. We will stay the night in homestay.

  • Day 7 : Briddim to Lama Hotel (2,447) Trip Duration: 05-06 hrs

    On the 7th day of our Tamang Heritage trail trek, we will be hiking from Brdiddim to Lama Hotel, which will take us about 6 hours of time. We will leave the trail to Syafru Besi, and follow the one to Lama Hotel. We will follow the trail along the ridge of the Rhododendron forest. Continuing our trek, we will reach Ghopche Khola, after some hours of walk. From there, we will trek to Lama Hotel, where we will be staying the night.

  • Day 8 : Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3,500m) Trip Duration: 06-07 hrs

    Today, the 8th day of our Tamang Heritage trail trek, we will be trekking from Lama Hotel to Langtang village. It will take us about 6-7 hours of time. The trail traverses alongside dense forests. After walking for some time, we will soon leave the tree line behind us. Ascending along the way, we will greatly enjoy the magnificent view of the Langtang Lirung Himal. Also, we will be passing by water mills, prayer wheels and chortens. After reaching the Langtang village, we will admire the view around there, and check into our lodge. Overnight at Langtang village.

  • Day 9 : Langtang village to Kyanjin Gompa (3,800m) Trip Duration: 04-05 hrs

    Day 9 of our Tamang Heritage trek consists of trekking from Langtang village to Kyanjin Gompa, which will take us about 4 hours of time. The trail today, traverses through Yak pastures. We will also come across the largest mani wall in Nepal. Mani wall is a wall made of stones with prayers written on them. Continuing further along the way, we will cross many wooden bridges, and finally reach Kyanjin Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is a beautiful place, surrounded by mighty Himalayas. We will then explore Kyanjin Gompa and some nearby places. In the evening we will have our meal and take a good night’s rest.

  • Day 10 : Kaynjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2,447m) Trip Duration: 05-06 hrs

    On the 10th day of our Tamang Heritage trek, we will be trekking from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama hotel, which will take us about 4-5 hours of time. The trail today is mostly downhill and we will cover much distance in a short period of time. We will be passing through beautiful forests alongside the beautiful mountain river. Also, many Tamang villages will be crossed along the way. Upon reaching Lama hotel, we will check into our hotel, and have a nice meal. Overnight at Lama Hotel.

  • Day 11 : Lama Hotel to Syafru Besi (1,550m) Trip Duration: 05-06 hrs

    Day 11 of our Tamang Heritage trek consists of trekking from Lama Hotel to Syafru Besi. It will take us about 5 hours of time, and the trail is further descending than the day before. After breakfast, we will start our trek. Through lush green vegetation, we will greatly enjoy today’s trek. Magnificent Langtang range, waving us goodbye, will once again make us remember, the amazing last 10 days we’ve had. After walking for some hours, we will reach Syafru Besi, where we will be spending the night.

  • Day 12 : Syafru Besi to Kathmandu (1,400m) Trip Duration: 09-10 hrs

    On the 12th day of our Tamang Heritage trail trek, we will be returning back to Kathmandu. It will take us about 8-9 hours of time. The road is a winding one, through frequent switchbacks. Though the road is graveled at first, it will soon give way to a pitched one. After a long and tiring ride to Kathmandu, we will reach there in 8-9 hours of time. After reaching Kathmandu, we will check into our hotel, and enjoy a good meal. A good night’s sleep is all that is left for the day.

  • Day 13 : Departure

    Day 13 marks the end of our Tamang Heritage trek, and also the day you will be returning back home. Our representatives from Mountain Routes will pick you up from your hotel, and take you to the airport. We will, bade each other farewell and share goodbyes at the airport. With nothing but beautiful memories and an amazing experience with you, you will board the plane. You will have some part of you touched during the last 13 days, and also have a great story to tell.

    Tatopani offers you the pristine view of Ganesh Himal and Langtang range.  Tato means Hot and Pani means water Tatopani meaning hotwater like its name Tatopani has a  natural Hotspring. We can take a bath or swim in the hot spring however the hotsprings are not so deep. It is believed that hot spring have healing energy and Treats or deep wounds naturally. Hot springs not only gives us physical pleasure but also calms our mind gives us a peace of mind. You can enjoy the landscape while warming up your body.

  • Has people suffered from AMS while doing Tamang heritage trek?

    Tamang Heritage trek is not so risky like other trekking circuits. However this trek should not be underestimated as we will be going as high as 3,800m. People from low altitudes are likely to suffer from AMS. If people didn’t respect the altitudes and their health then they have high chances of getting AMS. We can Avoid the AMS by slowly ascending the altitude and giving our body enough time to acclimatize with the surroundings. The key to not getting AMS is Ascending slowly, Eating right diet and drinking plenty of water and proper set of layering.

  • What Happens if I get AMS or Sick?

    At first our guides will observe your symptoms and try to make sure weather it is AMS or just mild tiredness. Once they become sure of the sickness they will  provide the basic first Aid. If the basic treatment doesn’t relieve the symptoms then you may need to take rest or descend down once the symptoms have disappeared then you can again continue your trekking. But if the sickness worsens then the only option is to DECEND and if you will not be able to walk then we will have to do a emergency rescue Via Helicopter.

  • How environment conscious are your guides and company?

    Our Guides are well trained and always follow the principle of leave no trace. We always try to minimize our impact on the environment and always dispose our waste properly. We bring back the undisposal items like battery, foils back to kathmandu can give it to the Garbage department for its proper disposal. Our company also works on community development projects and clean up campaings.

  • Whats the accommodation ,food and water like?

    The accommodation are very simple and we expect you to prepare accordingly. We will be spending our nights in Basic Tea houses and lodges, Which will provide the facility of warm beds and delicious foods. The tea houses also offers services of WIfi, Hot shower, Attached bathroom and sometimes Heater. The Foods are prepared according to the your order You can get typical Nepali food daal bhat to European and Chinese foods like Noodles, pasta, omeletes, spaghati , Bread, oats, muselli MoMo etc. The foods are hygienic and well cooked by professional chefs. As for water all the water should be treated and filtered before drinking. Bring your own water bottle and if you buy water fill it in your own bottle. The tea houses also offers Hot water facility.
