Langtang Helambu Gosaikunda trek is one of the best, Langtang region trek. It takes you through beautiful landscapes, on the lap of the mountains. We traverse through amazing places and meet even more, amazing people. Through ups and downs, we will experience nature in its true form, and get left with an amazing story to tell, in the end.

Starting from Kathmandu, we will travel to Syafru Besi on the second day of Langtang Gosaikunda trek. It will take us about 7-8 hours of time to reach there. It is from Syafru Besi, that we start our actual trekking. On the 3rd day of our trek, we trek from Syafru Besi to Lama Hotel. We will be amazed by the way they treat their guests, and learn the proper way guests are treated. From Lama hotel, we trek to Langtang village, and from there to Kyangjin Gompa.

We stay 2 nights at Kyangjing Gompa, spending some time to explore the nearby Tserko Ri peak. The sunrise from there is spectacular and we will be sure not to miss it. From there, we trace our steps back to Lama hotel. From there, we will trek to Thulo Syafru, then to Sing Gompa. It is from Sing Gompa, that we reach our destination of Gosaikunda. We will be amazed by the spectacular view of the lakes and tall mountains. From Gosaikunda, we will trek to Ghopte, then to Melamchi Gaun. From Melamchi Gaun, we trek to Tarkeghyang then to Shermathang. From Shermathang to Melamchi bazar, and from there, we will finally return back to Kathmandu.

During our 17 days of Langtang Helambu trek, we will traverse through beautiful oak and Rhododendron forests. Cross some bridges over beautiful fast flowing rivers. Magnificent views of the Ganesh, Manaslu and Annapurna Himal, will win our hearts, and we will fall in love with the nature. Also, some beautiful wildlife such as Himalayan Thar, and red pandas might be encountered. With all these amazing things, we will make some beautiful memories, that will last a very long time. We will return back home, with some part of us touched during the last 17 days of the trek.

Best Time to Trek

Best time to enjoy the Langtang Helambu trek is during the autumn season (September – mid December) and also during the spring season (March – May). The climatic condition is perfect during the time, and pleasant views of the area can be enjoyed, in this Lantang Gosaikunda trek.

  • Day 1 : Arriving in Kathmandu

    On the very first day of Langtang Gosaikunda trek, you arrive at the capital city of Nepal – Kathmandu. Our representatives from Mountain Routes will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel. They will explain the details regarding trekking such as, trekking routes and schedules. Upon reaching your hotel, you can freshen up a bit and then go out to explore the beautiful city of Kathmandu.

    You also need to prepare for the trek, starting from the next day.


  • Day 2 : Kathmandu to Syafru Besi

    On the second day of our Langtang Gosaikunda trek, we start our journey early, as it will take us about 7-8 hours of time to reach Syafru Besi. We travel via bus, and the path is winding, through frequent switchbacks. But the good thing is that we are accompanied by the beautiful views of the mountain range, throughout. Majestic Manaslu, Ganesh and Annapurna Himal will make the trip worthwhile. After, 7-8 hours, and reaching Syafru Besi, we will check into our lodge and spend the night there.


  • Day 3 : Syafru Besi to Lama Hotel

    We start the day 3 of our Langtang Helambu trek, early, and head out to Lama hotel. It takes about 6 hours to reach Lama hotel from Syafrubesi. We start the trail, by crossing the Langtang khola (river). Then the trail traverses through beautiful oak and Rhododendron forest, with frequent ups and downs. Continuing further, we soon reach a bridge over the Langtang khola. From there, the trail is steeply upwards. Finally, we reach Lama Hotel. We then explore the nearby areas and enjoy the amazing view it has to offer. After that, we check into our lodge and spend the night there.


  • Day 4 : Lama Hotel to Langtang Village

    After an early breakfast, we start our 4th day of our Langtang Gosaikunda trek. Today, we trek from Lama hotel to Lantang village, which takes about 6 hours of time. We cross the Langtang khola, and follow the upwards trail to Ghoda Tabela. From there, it takes about 30 minutes to reach Thangshyap, where we have lunch. After having lunch, we follow the gradual uphill trail, until we reach Langtang village. Upon reaching, we will check into our lodge and spend the night there.


  • Day 5 : Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa

    Day 5 of our Langtang Gosaikunda trek consists of trekking from Langtang village to Kyangjin Gompa. It takes us about 4 hours of time to reach Kyangjin Gompa. The trail today, is a gradual uphill, climbing through beautiful small villages and yak pastures. The valley then starts to open up and the views become more enriching. Continuing the trail, we reach Mundu village from where the views of Langtang Ri, Langshisha, Yala peak and Cherko Ri, is panoramic and magnificent. From there, we finally reach Kyangjin Gompa. At Kyangjin Gompa, there lies one of the most sacred monastery. We arrive at Kyangjin and have lunch there. After that, we spend rest of the day, exploring the monastery and nearby places. Overnight at Kyangjin Gompa.


  • Day 6 : Acclimatization at Kyangjin Gompa and Exploring Tserko Ri

    Our 6th day of Langtang Helambu trek, consists of acclimatizing at Kyangjin Gompa and visiting the Tserko Ti. It will take us about 7-8 hours to complete this routine. To best enjoy this day, we head out very early today. As, the sunrise view from Tserko Ri is magnificent, we are sure to not miss it. We enjoy the sunrays slowly kissing the mountain tips. After staying there for some time, we will return back to Kyangjin Gompa. We reach there by late afternoon. Upon reaching back to Kyangjin Gompa, we explore some nearby places, making our trip complete, for the day. Beautiful views of the Himalayas, glaciers and wildlife, can be enjoyed throughout. We then spend our second night in Kyangjing Gompa.


  • Day 7 : Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel

    7th day of our Langtang Gosaikunda trek consists of trekking from Kyangjin Gompa back to Lama hotel. We retrace our step back there, and it takes us about 6-7 hours to reach there. The trail today, is mostly downhill. We also pass through beautiful forests. Also the Tamang villages, in between, are beautiful with even more beautiful people. We can enjoy the beautiful views of Himalayas. Upon reaching there, we check into our lodge and spend the night there.


  • Day 8 : Lama Hotel to Thulo Syafru

    Day 8 of our Helambu Gosaikunda trek consists of trekking from Lama hotel to Thulo Syafru. It takes us about 5 hours of time, to complete this trek. We traverse through Bamboo trees during the first 3 hours of the trek. Continuing further, we reach a landslide point, from where the trail is ascending. After trekking for some time, we finally reach Thulo Syafru. Thulo Syafru is a Tamang village, where we have our lunch and dinner. After checking into our lodge, we will spend the night there.


  • Day 9 : Thulo Syafru to Sing Gompa

    On day 9 of our Langtang Helambu trek, we hike from Thulo Syafru to Sing Gompa. It takes about 5 hours to reach Sing Gompa. The trail today is a steep upward climb through beautiful oak, fir and Rhododendron forests. After trekking for 4 hours, we reach Khoprang danda, where we have our lunch. We will enjoy the view of Ganesh Himal and other tall cliffs, while having lunch. From there, the trail follows a gradual climb upwards. In about an hour, we reach Sing Gompa. Overnight at Sing Gompa.


  • Day 10 : Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda

    Day 10 of our Langtang Gosaikunda trek, is a very special day. Today, we trek to Gosaikunda which takes about 5-6 hours of time. The trail today is a gradual upward until we reach Cholang Pati. We traverse through beautiful Rhododendron forest, witnessing amazing Ganesh and Annapurna range. From there, after trekking for one hour, we reach Laurebinayak. We have our lunch there, and upon walking for another one and half hour, we reach top of Laurebinayak. From there, after walking for another hour, we finally reach Gosaikunda. Upon reaching Gosaikunda, we will be startled by the beautiful seen of the lake and the mountains. Exploring around, and filling our hearts with epic memories, we then head to our settlement for the night.


  • Day 11 : Gosaikunda to Ghopte

    On day 11 of our Langtang Gosaikunda trek, we trek from Gosaikunda to Ghopte. We start with an early breakfast, then hike to the top of Gosaikunda. We will pass through many lakes namely, Bhairab Kunda, Dudh Kunda, Chandra Kunda, Surya Kunda. It takes us about one and a half hours to reach there. From the top, we then climb down to Phedi, for lunch. After having lunch and resting there for a while, we then traverse through ups and downs, finally reaching Ghopte. It takes about 2 hours to reach Ghopte from Phed. Overnight at Ghopte.


  • Day 12 : Ghopte to Melamchi Gaun

    Today, on the 12th day of our Langtang Helambu trek, we head to Melamchi Gaun (village) from Ghopte. The starting trail traverses through forested path for 2 hours, until we reach Thadepati. From Thadepati, we get spectacular view of the mountain range. We then continue our trek to Melamchi Gaun, where upon reaching, we have our lunch. Melamchi Gaun is a Sherpa settlement village, but other ethnic groups also reside here. Melamchi gaun lies in the middle of the forest and also has a monastery. We then go to our hotel, and spend the night.


  • Day 13 : Melamchi Gaun to Tarkeghyang

    Day 13 of our Langtang Gosaikunda trek marks our hike from Melamchi Gaun to Tarkeghyang, which takes about 4 hours. After breakfast, we head out, reaching our first destination of Tarkado. It takes about 2 hours to reach there, and another 2 hours from there, to reach Tarkeghyang. At Tarkeghyang, we will find an old Buddhist monastery. We will have lunch there, and explore around a bit. Overnight at Tarkeghyang.


  • Day 14 : Tarkeghyang to Shermathang

    Today’s trek from Tarkeghyang to Shermanthang consists of traversing ups and downs through forested trail. Shermathang lies in the middle of the forest, and is inhabited mostly by Sherpas. We can view beautiful Langtang range from Shermathang. Upon reaching there, we explore around a bit, and spend the night there.


  • Day 15 : Shermathang to Melamchi Pul Bazar

    Day 15 of our Langtang Gosaikunda trek consists of hiking from Shermathang to Melamchi Pul. It takes about 4 hours to reach there. We follow the forested trail from Shermathang to Melamchi Pul bazar. After starting our trail, we soon reach Kakani, where beautiful view of the mountains can be enjoyed. We stop for lunch at Kakani, from where it takes 3 hours to reach Melamchi Pul bazar. Overnight at Melamchi Pul bazar.


  • Day 16 : Melamchi Pul Bazaar to Kathmandu

    On the 16th day of our Langtang Helambu trek, we travel from Melamchi pul bazar to Kathmandu via bus. We will travel through Dhulikhel to reach Kathmandu. The road to Lami danda is enjoyable and from there, we travel on pitched road until Kathmandu. We see many beautiful villages and green hills, along the way.


  • Day 17 : Departure

    Day 17 is the last day of our Langtang Gosaikunda trek and also your last day in Nepal. Our representatives from Mountain Routes, pick you up from your hotel and take you to the airport. We share goodbyes and bade each other farewell. You then board the plane, with beautiful memories and an amazing experience. You will then, return home with some part of you touched, in the last 17 days.

    If you follow our company’s itinerary the total trek is of 17 days where you will be hiking for 15 days and travelling in a jeep for two days.

  • From where do we start this trek?

    Langtang valley is near Kathmandu valley. We will be travelling to Syafru Besi from Kathmandu Via Jeep it will take around 7 to 8 hours to reach Syafru Besi From Syafru Besi we will start our trek.

  • Can i do the Trek with my family how difficult is it?

    Of course, Langtang Helambu Gosainkunda trek is for everyone. This trek is not so challenging compared to other trekking regions. The trails are well maintained and the risks are also minimum as we will not be crossing the high passes. This trek is made for all level of trekkers and suitable for Family also. In fact, this trek is specially designed for the 4 to 5 group of people as you will be trekking for 17 days passing through the indigenous communities. You will be spending quality time with your family. However, this trip requires proper physical condition as one needs to walk for 6 to 7 hours a day. The difficulty level also varies from person to person If you are in the good physical condition and have no trouble walking for long distance up and down slopes then you will have no problem. Otherwise, you will need to do some training before committing to this trip.

  • What can I do make Gosaikunda helambu trek Easier?

    Well, you should focus on increasing your strength and stamina .you can start your exercises 1month before the trek. Avoid alcohols and smoking, or limit the amount. You can do any exercises that keep will keep you fit. You can also join a local Gym or swimming club, or start to hike to nearest hills which have up and down slopes. Some cardio exercises and cycling are also beneficial for this treks. You should be able to step out of your comfort zone and take the challenges and make the most out of it. There’s a saying the nicest views come from the hardest Climb.

  • I am allergic to some foods and I often get stomach aches are the food and water Healthy?

    You need to inform us about all the allergy and send us detail copy of the foods that you are allergic to, we will ensure that those foods will not be served to you our guides will check the food every time before it is being served to you.

    The foods are completely healthy and meet the standard quality. The foods are prepared by experienced chefs in a well and hygienic environment. All the foods are fresh and our guides will always be there to make sure you are served with quality food because our primary concern is clients health. We will not your stomach be upset and cause uneasiness. We do not recommend drinking the water which is not treated. All the waters should be treated before drinking. To avoid the handsome cost of buying water you can always bring your own lifestraw or purification tablets.

  • Do I get porter in this trek as I don’t think I can carry weights?

    Don’t worry our company will arrange a personal porter for you who will be helping you throughout the whole trip. You don’t need to carry many weights just a daysack with water and your energy bars. Our porters will carry the weight up to 25kgs. We do not recommend you to bring unnecessary items which will not be used in the trek. You can deposit your items in our office in Kathmandu. We take full responsibility for your belongings that are deposited in our office.

  • How safe is the Langtang region?

    Langtang region is completely safe for trekking. The trails are yearly maintained by the local villagers. There hasn’t been a case of wild animal attacks, or robbery or theft. The people are kind and hospitable who will always treat you like their own family. They also know the importance of visitors. However we need to approach this trek with safety as we will be trekking in high altitudes, and there are chances of AMS, But with the right food proper layering and acclimatization, we can avoid the AMS. We always recommend you to take proper care of your personal belongings do not leave your backpacks unattended.

  • Do I Need TIMS card?

    Yes, you do, only in restricted areas, TIMS card is not needed.

  • What kind of permits do I need for this trip?

    You will need Langtang National park Permit and TIMS card the details of the permit will be sent to you Via Mail.

  • Which is the best month to do this trip?

    You can enjoy the trip to the fullest in the month of September, October, mid-December, April, March and May. The weather is perfect in these months. Trekking in Monsoon is not a good idea for this trek.

  • How long do we need to walk per day?

    On average you will be hiking for 5 to 6 hours a day depending on the trails and itinerary.
