Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking is the one of the best, trekking in Annapurna region Nepal, that takes you into the heart of the Himalayas. Within just a period of 7 days, with this trek, you will enjoy nature in its best form, in the foothills of mount Annapurna. This Ghorepani Poon Hill trek will start from Kathmandu and takes you to Nayapul through Pokhara. From Nayapul, the hiking begins by crossing the airy suspension bridge over Modi Khola (river). The trail then leads to the Birethati, which is junction point that leads to Annapurna sanctuary and Ghorepani Poon Hill trek.
We then, follow the trail along the Bhurung Khola reaching the beautiful Ghandruk village, inhabited by Gurung people. Ghandruk is a very beautiful village, which gives you a deep insight about the Gurung people and their culture.
Though being a short Annapurna region trek, this is one of the most beautiful, journey you can embark upon. Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is suitable for anyone and is an easy trek which you can complete in a very short period of time. The accommodation along the way is very well established and the route is very easy to traverse through. And, the amazing view of the mountains is sure to make you return one more time.
Ghorepani Poon Hill trek can be done throughout the year but it is not advised to trek during the Monsoon season (July to August). To enjoy the beautiful forests covered in Rhododendron, we suggest trekking in spring season (March to April).

Depart Kathmandu
On the very first day of our Annapurna region trekking, you will be arriving at the capital city of Nepal – Kathmandu. Our representatives will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotels. They will explain the route and schedule along the way. You can have lunch upon reaching, and then go out to explore the beautiful city of Kathmandu.
On the second day of the trip, we will be travelling from Kathmandu to the city of Lakes – Pokhara. We will be travelling by jeep and it will take us about 6 to 7 hours. There are a lot of places to explore in Pokhara. So, upon arriving in Pokhara, we will head straight out, not to miss any key attraction points. We will then explore the amazing night life of Lakeside then, head back to our hotels to rest for the day.
Our third day of trekking in the Annapurna region Nepal, begins with travelling from Pokhara to Nayapul. We will travel by jeep and it will take us about 2 hours of time. Upon reaching Nayapul, we will begin our hike to Tikhedhunga. From Nayapul, our trail leads us to Birethati which is a junction point for Annapurna sanctuary and our trek route. It will be a steeply descending trail. We will then walk further, following the banks of Bhurung khola to reach Tikhedhunga. We will stay the night in Tikhedhunga.
4th day of our Annapurna region trek, begins with an early breakfast at Tikhedhunga and then heading out to reach Ghorepani. On our way we will cross suspension bridges and beautiful waterfalls. The trail will first cross the stream of Bhurung khola, then leading us to a large Magar village called Ulleri. Upon further walking along the trail, we will traverse through pastures and cultivated fields, Rhododendron and oak forests, reaching Nangethati. We will have our lunch there. After having lunch there, we will head to Ghorepani, which will only take about 2 hours. We will stay the night at Ghorepani.
Today is one of the best part of the trek, where we will be heading out early to Poon Hill for an early morning sunrise view. It will take us about 40 minutes to reach Poon Hill, from where we will have a startling panoramic view of mount Dhaulagiri, Annapurna range, Nilgiri range, Machhapuchhare, and other peaks. As the sun rays slowly kiss the mountains tips, we will slowly run out of words to describe the moment. After viewing the sunrise, we will follow the trail, which traverses through dense forest of Deurali and then descends to Tadapani. From Tadapani, it will take us about 3 hours to reach the Ghandruk village, where we will be staying the night
On the 6th day of our Annapurna region trekking, after having breakfast, we will admire the place one more time and then head out to each Nayapul. It is a very easy climb down, which will only take us about 3 hours of time. Upon reaching Nayapul, we will have our lunch there and rest for a bit. Then, we will travel to Pokhara by jeep which will only take us about an hour or so. We will then, utilize the rest of the day, exploring the remaining part of Pokhara. We will have dinner at Lakeside, Pokhara. We can also enjoy the beautiful Lakeside during the night time. A good night’s sleep is all that is left for the day.
We will start the day at Pokhara with breakfast and then take a jeep to go back to the capital. It will take us about 6-7 hours of time. Alternately, we can travel via plane which will save us time and only take about 35 minutes. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will explore the city around a bit. We can also do some shopping and on night, we can enjoy Thamel’s beautiful night life.
Today, on the last day of our Annapurna region trek, you will be heading back home. Our representatives will pick you up from your hotel and drop you at the airport. We will share goodbyes and you will be going back home, with amazing and beautiful memories of the trek.
Poonhill is situated in Northern Central Nepal in the Annapurna Trekking Region which lies in the Annapurna Conservation Area Project.
Poonhill Trekking is considered as one of the easy trekking trails in the Annapurna region. Anyone with the normal fitness level can complete this trek since the trekking hour is usually 4-5 hours per day.
The most popular and regular followed route is Nayapul- Tikhedhunga- Gorepani. There are two other options as well. One is Ghandruk- Tadapani- Ghorepani route and another is Tatopani- Shikha- Ghorepani.
Since there are few alternative trekking routes for Poonhill Trek, the days depends on which route you prefer. But the minimum days to do this trek is 3 days.
You will be provided with 1 porter to carry baggage of 2 trekkers and one guide.
Since Poonhill trekking is the low altitude trekking of 2855m height, there is no chance or minimum chance of high altitude sickness depending on the individual.
The weather in the Poonhill is quite windy. There are four types of climates.
Poonhill trekking is the best package for family trekking. Since the number of hours to walk per day limits to 4-5 hours, even children can do this trek with the guidance of their parents.

The tourist bus will be arranged for Kathmandu- Pokhara- Kathmandu which is included in your package. From Pokhara to the trekking starting point, private jeep or car will be arranged. We can also arrange fight/private transportation at an extra cost.
