Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of the most amazing trekking, Annapurna region can offer. In just 11 days of time, we will be exploring the beautiful and scenic beauty of nature and also get some insight about the people of the region. Annapurna range will be viewed up close, and the startling view of it, will accompany us throughout the trek.
Our Annapurna region trekking, begins from the capital city – Kathmandu. We will then travel to Pokhara, which is another best tourist destination of Nepal. From Pokhara, we will head to Nayapul, and then trek to Jhinu Danda. From there, to Dovan and quickly to the Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC), followed by trek to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). We will then trace our steps back to Dovan, to Ghandruk. Following the trail will lead us back to Nayapul and back to Pokhara, to Kathmandu.
Amazing view of the mountain range of Annapurna Himal including Himchuli, Annapurna South, Tent peak, Fishtail, Annapurna III, Ganga and Purna and many more including mighty Annapurna, is sure to leave us speechless, when seen upon for the first time. Depart Kathmandu
On the first of our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, we will arrive at the capital city – Kathmandu. Our representatives from Mountain Routes will pick you up at the airport and take you to your respective hotel. They will explain the trekking schedule and routes to you, along the way. You can have lunch and rest for a while in the hotel and then head out to explore the beautiful city of Kathmandu.
On the second day of our Annapurna region trek, we will be heading from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Taking a jeep from Kathmandu to Pokhara will take about 6-7 hours to reach. Upon reaching Pokhara, we will visit some major points of attractions in Pokhara like Fewa lake, Shanti Stupa, Davis Falls, etc. At night, we can ejoy strolling around the beautiful Lakeside.
Travelling from Pokhara to Jhinu Danda consists of travelling to Nayapul then, to Birethati. From Pokhara, it will only take about an hour or so to reach Nayapul. From Nayapul, we will start our trek to Birethati. It will only take us half an hour to reach Birethati from Nayapul. The trail from Birethanti then follows a gentle trail along the newly constructed motorable trail. Then, we reach a high suspension bridge connecting Jhinu Danda and Simroong. The thrill it has to offer is very enjoyable, while walking on the suspension bridge. Crossing the bridge, then leads us to the Jhinu Danda, where lies the amazing natural hot spring on the bank of river Modi. We will stay the night at Jhinu Danda.
Today’s trek from Jhinu Danda to Dovan, is going to be a bit stretchy. The trail follows many ups and downs along the way. Close and amazing view of Mt Fishtail, Annapurna South, Himchuli along the way makes it easier to complete the trek. Beautiful natural beauty, turbulent Himalayan river, local people of the region, and their lifestyle, will just add beauty to the trek and make it more meaningful. Leaving Choomroon, Sinwa and Bamboo behind, we will finally reach Dovan in the evening. Overnight at Dovan.
On day 5 of our Annapurna region trek, we will be trekking from Dovan to MBC. We will start the trek early and follow the trail, which will lead us to Deurali (3200 m), where we will be having our lunch. After having lunch at Deurali, we will continue trekking and will cross a narrow gorge of Machhapuchhre on right side, and Himchuli and Annapurna South, on the left side. The stream, flowing down from the Annapurna Base Camp will make it much easier to keep going. We will stay the night at Machhapuchhre Base Camp.
Day 6 of our Annapurna Base Camp trekking consists of trekking from MBC to Annapurna Base Camp then back to Dovan. Today, will be one of the best days of our whole trek as we will be in the lap of Himalayas, with the best, up close view of the same. Panoramic view of the Himalayas including mount Himchuli, Annapurna South, Tent peak, Fishtail. Annapurna III, Ganga and Purna and many more including, mighty Annapurna I and other can be enjoyed with great pleasure. After spending some time in the Annapurna Base Camp, we will then head back to Dovan, following the same trail we used while going up. We will then spend the night again, in Dovan.
Today, on the 7th day of our trekking in Annapurna region Nepal, we will be following the trail from Dovan to Choomrung. It will only take us 4-5 hours but it is a steep climb down. So, it can be a bit stretchy one, on the legs. Choomrung is a small village which resides on the hillside and provides amazing view of mount Annapurna and Machhapuchhre. After reaching Choomrung, we can enjoy the view from there and roam around in the village. Overnight at Choomrung.
Our 8th day of the Annapurna region trek is an easy climb down with only about 200 meters difference in the elevation. It will take us about 4-5 hours to reach Ghandruk from Choomrung. We need to croos the Kimrong Khola and climb the Kimrong Danda. We will have amazing view of Annapurna range to accompany us along the way. After crossing the Choomrung pass, we will reach Ghandruk. We will stay the night at Ghandruk.
Today, we will be trekking from Ghandruk to Nayapul then take a drive back to Pokhara. Amazing view of the sunrise can be enjoyed from Ghandruk and we will be sure not to miss that. After that, we will descend to Nayapul. The descend from Ghandruk to Nayapul is the last one, of our Annapurna Base Camp trek. Upon reaching Nayapul, we will then head back to the beautiful city of Pokhara via jeep. It will take us about one and half hours of time. And, on reaching Pokhara, we can enjoy visiting some of tourist destinations. Night life of Lakeside, Pokhara can also be enjoyed. We will spend the night at Pokhara.
On the 10th day of our Annapurna region trekking, we will be heading back from Pokhara to Kathmandu via roadways. It will take us about 6-7 hours of time. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will go to our respective hotels. Rest of the day then, can be enjoyed exploring the beautiful city of temples, and by doing some shopping. Thamel’s night life can be enjoyed during the night.
Today is our last day of the Annapurna region trekking, and the same day, you will be heading back home. Our representatives from Mountain Routes will pick you up from your hotel and drop you at the airport. We will share our goodbyes and wish each other luck, for coming days. You will then, be boarding the plane, with nothing but, beautiful memories and best experience.
Extra belongings that you do not need to carry on the trek can be stored at your hotel in Pokhara / Kathmandu or in our office.
Annapurna Base Camp is considered as moderate trek so no previous experience is required. However, most of the trek involves long duration trail that goes up and down. If you have problem in ankle then be cautious. Also, weather plays a vital role when you are trekking. It can snow on the trails if you go in mid- winter. Instead of crampons, carry micro spikes and carry lightweight so that it gives you confidence to trek.
During this trek accommodation will be basic. You will get sharing room with a mattress and a blanket/quilt. We can offer you sleeping bags if needed. Most of the teahouses accommodation have western flushing toilet however in the higher elevation you can expect squat toilets which might be outside of the room.
You can buy water bottle which is safe to drink or you can refill the water which is available in teahouses in extra payment. We suggest you to carry a life straw bottles so that you can refill in the tap or stream water which is also good for the environment.
There will be one porter to carry luggage ( max 15kg in total) of two trekkers and one guide.
Annapurna Base Camp trek is 4130m / 13550 ft high, so there is chance of high altitude sickness depending on every individual
The weather in the Annapurna Base Camp is quite windy and snowy.
There are four types of climates.
Autumn (mid-September to end-November) peak season for trek.
Winter (End-November to March).
Spring (Mid-March to May) peak season for trek.
Monsoon (June to mid-September).
